Setup Guide
Everything you need to install PropSweep, connect it to your HubSpot portal, and run your first property audit.
1. Prerequisites
Before installing PropSweep, make sure you have:
- A HubSpot account (Free, Starter, Professional, or Enterprise — any hub)
- Super Admin permissions, or App Marketplace access in your HubSpot portal
2. Install from the HubSpot Marketplace
- Navigate to the HubSpot App Marketplace and search for "PropSweep"
- Click "Install App" on the PropSweep listing page
- Review the requested permissions — PropSweep only requests read-only access (see section 3 below)
- Click "Connect app" to authorize via OAuth
- You will be redirected back to PropSweep once the connection is established
The entire installation process takes about 30 seconds. No configuration or API keys are required.
3. OAuth & Permissions
PropSweep requests the minimum scopes needed to audit your CRM properties. All scopes are read-only — PropSweep never writes, updates, or deletes anything in your HubSpot portal. For full details on what data we access, see our data transparency page.

Revoking access
You can disconnect PropSweep at any time:
- Go to HubSpot Settings → Integrations → Connected Apps
- Find PropSweep and click "Uninstall"
All stored data associated with your portal will be deleted upon uninstalling.
4. Running Your First Scan
- After installing, open PropSweep from within your HubSpot portal
- Click "Run Scan"
- PropSweep will check every custom property across your CRM object types (Pro tier scans all 8 standard types plus custom objects)
- A typical scan completes in 30 seconds to 2 minutes, depending on the number of custom properties in your portal
On the free tier, scans cover contact properties only and show the top 5 results. You can run one scan every 7 days.
5. Understanding Your Results
After a scan completes, PropSweep displays your custom properties sorted by fill rate (lowest first). For each property, you'll see:
- Property name — the internal name of the property
- Object type — the CRM object this property belongs to
- Property group — the group the property belongs to
- Fill rate — the percentage of records that have a value for this property
- Created date — when the property was first created
What is fill rate?
Fill rate is the percentage of records that actually have a value for a given property. For example, if you have 1,000 contacts and a property called old_campaign has a value on zero of them, its fill rate is 0% — a strong signal that this property is unused and can be archived.
6. Taking Action
PropSweep is a read-only audit tool — all cleanup actions happen in HubSpot's native property settings:
- Review the scan results and identify properties with 0% or very low fill rates
- Optionally, export a CSV of the full audit report (Pro tier) for documentation or team review
- In HubSpot, go to Settings → Properties
- Find the unused properties and archive or delete them
We recommend archiving rather than deleting, so you can restore properties if needed later.
7. Upgrading to Pro
The free tier includes one scan every 7 days of contact properties (top 5 results). The Pro Pass unlocks:
- Scans across all 8 standard object types + custom objects
- Unlimited manual scans
- Automated weekly scans
- Weekly email digest highlighting newly detected dead properties (Coming soon)
- CSV export of the full audit report
- Fill rate trends over time (Coming soon)
The Pro Pass costs $19 for 6 months — a one-time payment with no auto-renewal. When your pass expires, you return to the free tier and can purchase another pass whenever you need it. See pricing details.
